Trek to Chopta-Tungnath, Chandrashila & Deorital

Your journey for the Chopta, Tungnath, Chandrashila and Deoria Taal trekking will start from Tapovan-Rishikesh. We will stay in a homestay in Chopta. Chopta is surrounded by dense forests and has a myriad collection of pictorial sights to bewitch the visitors which is marvelously engulfed by huge vegetation in spring and summer. During winter it would be appealing to all eyes since the thick cover of snow will be an amusing part of the region.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1 - Drive to Chopta

Pick Up Point- Tapovan, Rishikesh Pick Up Time- 6:00 am From Rishikesh to Chopta is a journey of 8-10 hours. The Alaknanda & Bhagirathi river will give you company throughout the road trip. We will reach Chopta by evening. Evening tea and Dinner will be provided.

Day 2 - Omkareshwar Temple and Trek to Deoria Tal

Trekking Distance : 06 kms After breakfast We will leave for Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath. Omkareshwar Temple is a revered shrine situated at Ukhimath, in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Located at an elevation of 1,300 meters, the temple serves as the winter abode for the deity of Kedarnath Shrine. In the winter season (November-April), when Kedarnath temple is covered with snow, the deity is brought down to Omkareshwar temple and worshiped there. After offering prayers in the Omkareshwar Temple, We will start our trek towards Deoria Tal from Sari Village. Deoria tal is an emerald lake perched at a height of 2438 mts above sea level. A grand vista of Chaukhamba massifs is unveiled in the background of the lake. We will trek down and reach our homestay in Chopta.

Day 3 : Trek to Tungnath

Trekking Distance : 3.5 kms After breakfast We will start our trek to Tungnath Mahadev. Tungnath peacefully adorned on the Chandranath Parvat is the highest Shiva temple in the world and the highest Panch Kedar temple of Uttarakhand. It is the third (Tritiya Kedar) in the pecking order of the Panch Kedars. Tungnath is perched at an elevation of 3, 680 metres above sea level and is considered to be more than 1,000 years old. It will be a 3 kms trek. We will reach Tungnath by afternoon, enjoy the views and get ready for Beautiful Sunset.

Day 4 - Sunrise Trek to Chandrashila

Trekking Distance - 6.5 kms At 04 AM in the morning, we will start our trek to Chandrashila for Sunrise. Chandrashila is summit of the Tungnath . It literally means "Moon Rock". It is located at a height of about 4,000 metres (13,000 ft) above sea level. This peak provides views of the Himalayas, including Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch and Chaukhamba peaks. There are various legends associated with this place. According to one such legend, this is the place where Lord Rama meditated after defeating the demon-king Ravana. Another legend says that moon-god Chandra spent time here in penance. We will come back to our Homestay in Tungnath by 08 AM. After breakfast, We will trek down to our homestay in Chopta. We will enjoy rest of our day in Chopta.

Day 5 : Drive back to Rishikesh

After breakfast we will leave for Rishikesh. Drop Off Point- Tapovan, Rishikesh(At around 6:30 PM) Distance - Around 250 kms.

Stay

• The stay will be provided in a old style traditional homestay which is run by a local family. Triple/Quadruple sharing will be done on the basis of Male/Female count. This is a budget trip and focus is more towards experiencing local culture and promoting tourism in the village.

Meal

• Vegetarian local meals will be provided. However, we also listen to the participants and cater to their needs if its feasible.
